Congratulations to Ms Cathey Hughes and her son Alfred Liggins for the official purchase of KKBT 92.3 The Beat in Los Angeles. She now expands her Radio One radio properties to 21 stations nation wide. It's good that Radio One will be out on the west coast. I know Radio One has been trying to get out there for years. Lets see if the Beat which is now Black owned will be a good fit for the LA community. While this is good for Radio One, its a bit sad for us at KMEL. The Beat has long been our sister station due to the fact many of the jocks got their start here in the Bay Area at KMEL. I also wonder what this means for the Sway & King Tech Wake Up Show. Will they expand their ever growing Hip Hop empire or will they run into radio politics?
